Lawley Marketplace Partnership With Liazon Featured in Buffalo Business First
Brian Murphy, partner in our Employee Benefits division, was recently interviewed about the relationship between Lawley and Liazon, the technology partner behind Lawley Marketplace, our private benefits exchange launched in 2013.
Buffalo Business First’s Dan Miner highlights how the partnership began between Murphy and Liazon CEO Ashok Subramanian and has blossomed into a private exchange that is used by roughly 15 percent of Lawley’s employee benefits customers. This number is expected to grow exponentially as companies explore offering their employees benefits online.
“Building a benefits package when you have a diverse workforce is a very difficult thing to do,” Murphy said. “On the exchange, employees have greater choice to build customized benefits packages and they can use technology to make those decisions.”
A recent study shows that 30 percent of covered health employees are expected to be on private exchanges by 2018, which is why the Lawley employee benefits team has invested in Lawley Marketplace as a full solution with dedicated team members who focus on and have expertise in implementing benefits through a private exchange, which other brokers may not have invested in yet.
Echoing that commitment is Liazon’s Chief Revenue Officer Michael Karp.
“The model works best when a company such as Lawley fully embraces it, building exchanges into their company structure and culture, Karp said. The technology only gets you so far. You need to support it, embrace it and immerse your company in it.”
