2016 HSA and HDHP Limits
The Internal Revenue Service annually reviews and sets the limits for health savings accounts (HSAs) and for high-deductible health plans (HDHPs), to which HSAs must be linked. The amounts, effective for calendar year 2016, are as follows:
| 2016 Limits for Health Savings Accounts and High-Deductible Health Plans | |
| HDHP minimum deductible amounts | Individual: $1,300 Family: $2,600 |
| HDHP maximum out-of-pocket amounts | Individual: $6,550* Family: $13,100* |
| HSA maximum contribution amounts | Individual: $3,350 Family: $6,750* |
| HSA catch-up contributions (age 55 or older) | $1,000 |
*denotes change from 2015
